High above Napa Valley’s fog line is where Howell Mountain reveals its raw power and untamed energy. This single-barrel Cabernet Sauvignon is grown on the estate vineyard’s prime slopes, where red volcanic soils and optimal sun exposure produce grapes of remarkable concentration. Hand-crafted in our small fermenters and aged for 20 months in French oak, the wine captures the true character of the mountain—bold and concentrated, yet balanced with natural finesse. A transparent expression of Howell Mountain, offering a wild and unforgettable glimpse of one of Napa’s most sought-after terroirs.

Michael Coode
Winemaker, Pope Valley Winery
Michael Coode is a seasoned wine professional with international winemaking, product development, facility management and wine education expertise. Mr. Coode’s experience spans 18 harvests across four countries and has resulted in the development of several products and brands. His experience includes tenure at the world-renowned Chateaux Margaux, Paul Jaboulet Ainee, Inglenook, Inniskillin, and Wolf Blass.
Integral to his success developing new products and repositioning existing product lines has been Mr. Coode’s uniquely blended experience of old-world winemaking, a technical background in wine research, and a new world business acumen.
Mr. Coode specializes in designing wine products from conception to market by leading cross-functional teams spanning production, marketing, operations, research, and customer preferences. During his time at E. & J. Gallo Winery, he oversaw international offsite production for product line extensions and supported analyses informing winery acquisitions.
