Planted in 1998 on steep slopes of fractured Andesite rock and volcanic ash, this Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from a special selection of Blankiet’s Paradise Hills Vineyard. Situated at the base of the Mayacamas Mountains in Yountville, the site benefits from a cooling San Francisco Bay breeze, creating an ideal climate for the vines to thrive. The vineyard’s dramatic terrain and unique soils shape each vine, producing a wine that reflects the essence of its place. Graeme MacDonald
Winemaker, Blankiet Estate
Graeme MacDonald is a fourth generation Napa Valley wine grower who resides on his family property within the famous To Kalon Vineyard. He studied Viticulture and Enology at the University of California, Davis before founding MACDONALD in 2010, where he serves as winemaker and vineyard manager. He was appointed as Head Winemaker at Blankiet in 2016, and has driven the wines to even greater heights.
Robert Mondavi used to refer to his family as "the best grape-growers in the Napa Valley," a commitment that resonates today. "It was my first barrel tasting at the Robert Mondavi Winery when I tried a wine made from vines planted by my grandfather. The wine reminded me of the old vines and the countless hours of work my grandfather put into tending them. It was a realization for me that taste could go beyond flavor descriptors and become ethereal."
