Description
From the historic Brandlin Vineyard, first planted in 1926 on the rugged slopes of Mount Veeder, comes a powerful yet restrained expression of single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. Rooted in fractured blue-shale soils of the Franciscan formation, these vines capture the wild elegance of one of Napa Valley’s coolest, most dramatic hillside sites. A touch of Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc adds depth and nuance, while 22 months in French oak brings polish to the wine’s mountain-born intensity. The result is a layered and complex Cabernet that honors nearly a century of heritage from one of Mount Veeder’s oldest continuously producing vineyards.

As our Winemaker, Rebecca George brings more than 15 years of winemaking experience gained on three continents and at some of the finest wineries in the world to her role at Brandlin Estate. Hailed as one of the most talented winemakers of her generation, Rebecca works alongside our acclaimed Director of winemaking, Steve Rogstad, to craft a small portfolio of renowned wines that embody the beauty, power and elegance of our historic estate vineyard high on the slopes of Mt. Veeder.
Raised in a small town in California’s Mojave Desert, Rebecca discovered an affinity for biology and botany at an early age. Inspired to pursue a career in wine, she attended UC Davis. After earning her B.S. in Viticulture & Enology, Rebecca worked harvests stints in California, France and Australia,. Over the next decade—the last eight as winemaker—Rebecca earned acclaim making estate-grown Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc working alongside noted Consulting Winemaker Francoise Peschon and Vineyard Manager Mike Wolf.
At Brandlin Estate, Rebecca continues to explore her love for crafting wines that eloquently embody their vineyard origins and the majesty of our nearly 100-year-old estate on Mt. Veeder

Steven Rogstad
Winemaker, Brandlin Estate
When Rogstad came to Cuvaison in 2002, he brought over 10 years of winemaking experience with him. Steve learned his winemaking craft in France before attending graduate school in enology and viticulture at UC Davis. His winemaking career has included Saintsbury, Spring Mountain Vineyards, Clos Pegase, and Rombauer where he worked with custom clients Viader, Neyers and Dominus.
Cuvaison was a perfect match as Steve’s background provides a wealth of in-depth knowledge concerning the intricacies of mountain vineyard farming as well as the unique terroir of the Carneros appellation. Steve has continued to produce ultra-premium, hand-crafted wines that capture the uniqueness of our Carneros and Mount Veeder estate vineyards and reflect the finest attributes of each vintage.
