This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is grown in our historic Howell Mountain estate vineyard, showcasing the purest expression of place. The vineyard’s sandstone-volcanic soils, combined with a cool climate and extended growing season, impart remarkable depth and intricacy to the wine. Native yeast fermented, aged in 100% French oak, and bottled unfined and unfiltered, it reflects meticulous, site-driven winemaking. Chris Carpenter
Winemaker, La Jota Vineyard Co.
Chris began as a harvest enologist at Domaine Carneros, then a viticulturist intern at Domaine Chandon as he was pursuing an MS in viticulture and enology at UC Davis. During his last year at UC Davis, he spent six months making wine at Tenute Antinori in Tuscany, Italy. Following graduation, he joined the winemaking team at the Cardinale estate as enologist and in 2000 became the winemaker for Lokoya. A year later, he was appointed winemaker for Cardinale.

Chris Carpenter is the winemaker for some of Napa Valley's most prestigious wineries, including Cardinale, Lokoya, La Jota and Mt. Brave. He has earned a reputation for taming Napa mountain tannins and creating legendary Cabernet Sauvignon. He believes in maximum attention in the vineyards and minimal intervention in the winery to create the purest expression of place.
